Just started Crime and Punishment, how do I stop being an edgy NEET like Raskolnikov?

Finish the book

Am I going to become Orthodox or something?

Get off this site
Did you know Fyodor had a death sentence that was commuted at the last minute (along with the other prisoners) by the tsar?
>>8531916
Yeah it said that on the book jacket.
>>8531920
Huh, that's in my copy of Demons, along with a rather butthurt commentarie by Somerset Maugham
By getting an Orthodox waifu
>>8531848
this cover is weird because it looks almost exactly like the copy I own down to the slight rips in the side
>>8531927
What's Maugham butthurt about?
>>8531848
Any good translation recs for this? I've got the Jessie Coulson one from Oxford World Classics, any thoughts on that?
>>8532482
Garnett, McDuff, Avesey, P&V. These are what everyone here recommends and will argue about forever. I've only read Garnett and P&V and I would go with P&V for this one, but may be one of the other two lads is better.
As a rule for Russian lit, P&V are good for Dostoevsky but nobody else, as Dostoevsky wrote relatively simply.

I disagree, I don't like P&V for anyone. I preferred even Garnett over them for C&P, but it's up to personal taste. I recommend people read an extract from each of the translation and decide for themselves.

I'm learning Russian so I don't have to rely on crap translators anymore tbph.
It's not even that hard
>>8531848
Did you even read the book? Just kill someone jfc.
>>8531916
Yeah apparently that was a little gag the tsar used to pull.
