That sounds pretty terrible. The creative writing class I took recently didn't give prompts at all, just different types of writing. Prompts were given for very short writing assignments, and work during class, but they were all pretty broad and rather fun.

I still think that the class is a meme, though, despite enjoying it a bit--since i'd be writing regardless.
