its boring
I have the john ciardi edition, but I feel it's the sort of book that requires annotations, so I feel I'd need to buy the norton critical edition or something.

What translation?
The single worst classic to ever worm its ways into the western canon outside of any thing written by Charles Dickens. On average, its about as vulgar as a /b/ post and even less insightful, any good prose is lost in its age, translation, and initial bad quality

My copy is also a Ciardi translation but contains extensive footnotes. One doesn't neceasarily have anything to do with the other.

It's *not* funny, but it *is* the single greatest work ever written by man. So there's that.
