Is this really what Proust is like?
Does /lit/ like Proust? I don't see him discussed here too often.

nothing wrong with being gay, faggot
I like walking past the shelf in the uni library where In Search of Lost Time is. The first volume is always checked out and the other ones never are.

/lit/ doesn't like Proust because he's
1)Actually good
2)His long book is never published in one volume, so they don't have a single huge tome to put on their bookcase.

He didn't write in English.

go back to /pol/ and stop degenerating this board

no
Proust actually addresses that exact idea "staying in for weak reasons" extremely articulately in the character of the Great Aunt in Combray.
just read him, I was hooked on the Overture alone
I started reading in search of lost time last night to my gf while she fell asleep because all I knew about it was it was about dreams or some shit. The first 20-30 pages or so that I read that described the feeling when you wake up and don't quite know where you are/have the ability to convince yourself you are anywhere was a total trip to me because it's so relatable but I have never thought about it or had it described to me before. I'm surely going to read more

I love Proust. He's not discussed here very often anymore because I don't come here as often as I used to.

Proust is one of my favorite writers; he's just not discussed here often because there's nothing to really meme about. You generally only see him pop up in recommendation threads.
He's here all the time you dumb faggots. His prose is decent at best.
Anyone care to advocate a preferred translation of In Search of Lost Time?
