Are translators even human?
For example, I read Don Quixote with Edith Grossman's translation. How does someone even start to translate a work from 1615 with its timely humour and way of speaking?

That's like saying there's no point in reading Shakespeare because the humor is lost on modern audiences.
How can we as a modern audience appreciate or critique Shakespeare without having been alive in that time period?
Cervantes makes a point about taking things literally
