If you had to represent "motivation" or a "second chance" as a place or object, how would you do it?

sorry, I guess I should explain a bit more. I'm trying to represent motivation as something a character can retrieve/make use of and bring to another character thats at the end of their rope. I see how prisons can represent motivation but I'm not sure its something someone can retrieve...

It already sounds like you've got a one-way ticket to hackville so don't bother.

Prisons and the current penal system is very demotivating and doesn't focus on rehabilitation which leaves them wasting their 'second chance'.
You got that, right? I was being slightly ironic with that picture. But it's more interesting with the way it ties into prison reform, incentive, deterrence, etc (and hence motivation and second chances) than whatever shit you're likely to conjure up ;-)
