Who/what should I read for insight into the philosophy of psychedelics? I'm interested in reading how it can be used as a form of therapy to help people with anxiety and depression.

Well Huxley is an obvious one. McKenna too, but I haven't actually read any of his work.

These two things are different. For the second, your best bet is primary sources from researchers. Popular science articles and books are garbage.

You should read about MKULTRA, how Pollock and other abstract expressionist worked for the CIA, and McKenna likely worked for them too but there's no proof.
