>In writing class
>Looking around while everyone is talking to each other
>See cute girl who is extremely shy and introverted reading something
>Look at what book she's reading
>It's The Picture of Dorian Gray
>Impressed because I expected her to read John Green or some shit
>"Hey Anonette, is that The Portrait of Dorian Gray?"
>she holds up the book cover
>"o-oh yeah picture not portrait...well is it good?"
>she nods and whispers yeah
>"Oh, I've been meaning to read it..."
>she goes back to reading
Did I spaghetti /lit/? What should I do? I'm interested in her now, quietness and introversion is already attractive to me, and now I'm more attracted that I know she has a good taste in literature.

You'll be fine anon, just shoot the shit a few more times then invite her to coffee.

If that one fails, it's all ogre.
>>
holy shit you fucking pleb
how did you not read it already?
next time prepare yourself with knowledge of the writers biography and remember interesting factoids and quotes that can lead to further discussion.
>>
>>8497404
I've only been into literature for like a year.
Writing always came natural to me, probably because my father writes, but I never really actually got into literature until then. It's on my to-read list.
>>
>>8497387
>Did I spaghetti /lit/?

Accidentally saying "portrait" instead of "picture" isn't that big of a deal. Unless you've got aspergers and fucked it up in other ways without realizing it, you're fine don't lose sleep over it.

Do you have aspergers?
>>
>>8497393
Best pepe I've seen in quite some time. Not OP but also good advice m8, cheers
>>
>>8497387

next time ask her if she finished it and liked it. Ask her if she read Wilde's short stories, aesthethics essays, etc. Say something like "oh, maybe you'll like his poems, he wrote one about worshipping cats, I can bring you my copy next time if you want". If she gives in, expect her talking about Jane Austen, some level entry classics, etc. If Wuthering Heights is one of her favorites, she understands her shit.
Also, this kind of girl enjoy talking about movie adaptations.

t. femanon
>>
>>8497470
Perfect advice. And go read Dorian Gray yourself quickly, and Wilde's fairy tales, which are awesome.
>>
>>8497387
Girls don't respond to compliments, they're for the weak
Next time laugh and call her a pleb pseud for reading such an entry level book in public, she'll start getting wet right away

>>
>>8497387

ya really impressive portrait of dorian gray! there's a real reader!
>>
>>8497387
you really fucked it up with ''portrait''

probably if she is like you're describing her, she must thought how pseud and poseur you're
>>
>>8497470
"I'll bring you a copy"? Its the 21st century you can find literally anything on the internet. Doesn't this sound stupid to you?
>>
>>8498395
it doesn't sound stupid, Anon
reading physically is more comfy and doesn't damage your eyes
>>
>>8498395
Are you a sperglord? It's about the gesture
>>
Kind off topic, anybody had readed The soul of man under socialism? I am reading it right now and its really good. Does Wilde wrote more non-fiction?
>>

>>8498707
There's his short story titled The portrait of M.W. or something. Whoever Shakespeare dedicated his sonnets to.
>>

>>8498413
And the gesture is forced and weird.

You're first move was to ask advice on /lit/. You're a pleb.
>>
>>8497387

She was reading, that's what she wanted to do. You try to start a conversation, she doesn't particularly understand that because she's autistic, so she goes back to doing what she was doing. You asked a question, she answered, that's it to her. You did nothing wrong, she did nothing wrong.
>>
>>8499165
As someone who reads a lot in class, it's pretty much this. Though, if someone tries to have a conversation with me i'll usually close my book, since it's the proper thing to do, not because i'm particularly interested.

>>8497387

Op, if she's so introverted/autistic that she won't even give her opinion on what she's reading, then she's probably not even very interesting to be with. Just ask her if she wants to share writing or some shit, since it's a writing class, and see how it goes from there; if she doesn't respond to any of your advances, just move on.
>>
>>8499318
Or you know

Some rando just came up you don't want to deal with and you mostly ignore them: that's not autistic that's being rude and suggesting you shoo
>>
>>8499159
>weird but okay

It's not that weird. Some great writers didn't or don't like to read.

And it's no surprise. It would be like assuming a great jet engineer loves to travel and has been around the world.

An active hobby is very different from a passive hobby. Reading and writing are like grapes and raisins. They're pretty much the same thing in essence, but not everyone who is into one is into the other.
>>
>>8499359
As a writer I've always find taking inspiration from gaining certain emotions from music, than books themselves. Just stretched over a long span of time. Copying other people's work, hodge podge isn't a great idea. A better is to just take as little what you can, something original, and structure it with music, think in how a song progresses.
>>
>>8499334

She is likely unaware of the OPs motives or interests other that what he explicitly stated. Such things are lost on the cute introverted baka. Maybe she's Finnish.
>>
>>8499368
>She is likely unaware of the OPs motives or interests other that what he explicitly stated

She probably doesn't care and it's rude to assume every fuckin person is entitled to your attention. She wanted to read and wasn't interested in talking about it to someone she who just approached her.

That's it. It's not autism, it's annoyance. Getting interrupted while reading is annoying.
>>
>>8499362
Interesting how you seemed to use music as an analogy for your writing, when for myself, I found the best way to understand writing (particularly poetry) was like painting or sculpting, but using words and language instead of color and texture.
>>
>>8497470
Holy, Wuthering Heights? We're reading that for english and it's the most disgusting thing I've laid eyes upon. I would rather read all of Tolkien's horribly written books (good story but badly written don't get triggered yet), then that shit.

Probably girls like that do exist, probably abuse victims or something.
I did write a poem for Rei, when I was 16 and a waifufag for her.

how do i approach a political science student? i think they're all socialists and commies but i'm not sure because i never maintain a conversation long enough to discuss this. i talked to psychology, business, law, biology, etc girls and i had no problem but these polsci ones are so difficult
what do femanon i'm attractive and usually sociable guy at least, so don't use appearances against me

what about fancy-hotel receptionists? do they think i'm rich because i'm there (considering they don't know i am a friend of a rich) and will like me for that or is it subjective? i really like this hotel receptionist

my last intimate relationship was a year ago and it's been dry i feel like i'm as ignorant as a 10yo discovering his penus now
pls help me
>>

Just b urself

Also why so desperate
>>
>>8501396
it's been so long since i felt a tit, my friend. i don't understand how i managed a year without any form of relationship when i had so many chances, i suddenly develop a conscience when it comes to the girl's feelings; i do not get involved unless i'm sure of my feelings or at least the feelings i can develop. very tragic, i know.
>>
>>8501314
Be around people with similar interests as you and stop trying to force yourself into different groups if you clearly disagree with them. It's awkward and you don't even seem like you'll enjoy it.

If you want to hang out with people who don't share your interests, you might have a rough time. I solved your problems bam.
>>
>>8501462
dear bam
i think you misread large portions of what i posted, but that's okay. this isn't a problem for me, and i generally enjoy everyone's company as long as they're 1% fun/funny/intelligent. politics is a major interest for me; i fight commies all the time from ages ranging from 19 to 68.
thanks for your cliche advice anyway friend

where's the fun with that? fights thrive relationships brother. arguments and conversations set fire to the heart. it's more important to be politically aware than just taking sides with this and that against x and y
i'm sorry but we view relationships differently
>>
>>8501448
>i do not get involved unless i'm sure of my feelings or at least the feelings i can develop. very tragic, i know.

Don't be shallow, Anon. It's not tragic it's very cute. You should still thinking in that way. Sex is not even relevant once you find someone that really cares for you and once you truly care for her. Best luck.

Ad Principessam Lunæ

1. A blue dress is taut,
stiff, and crinkling.
Where I am it’s known not,
a sad state of being.

2. Taut is this as well,
a bit sweeter, despite
the trembling almost as hell.
The cool heat within white.

3. But what is even tauter
is your motions and their anima.
To not see the thoughts they offer
the eastern savior’s pure, heißt lamia.

4. And I know you cry beyond your heart
and within, but remember that Heaven bled.
If we forget the wish and wist, in that part
let us at least have had near-perfection, what so briefly we said.

Happy Birthday Ayanami. I long for all your touch and mouth and spirit.
>>
>>8501539
at least i'm not shallow enough to say sex isn't relevant with your loved one. and this is coming from an aromantic.
>being called cute
i hope this is my last day on this vicious earth.

thank you. i wish you luck as well my friend.
i'll be at the reception if you need me. goodbye.
>>
>>8501550
I can practically smell your body fluids over here, it's fantastic
>>
>>8498709

Evolutionary psychology is the surefire way to get a gf.
>>

ABAB rhyme scheme, four stanzas, which follow a theme of going deeper, I was reading Dante at the time.
Keep in mind that I had and have minimal experience and interest in poetry, and I didn't use meter since I didn't get how a stress-based meter was supposed to work.

>Ad Principessam Lunæ
Titling style borrowed from Catullus
>1.
The outermost layer, namely Rei's kirei seifuku
>2.
The next layer, imagining Rei's skin and flesh. Pretty self explanatory.
>3.
Rei's 'external' soul, that is, as revealed in her motions and behavior. I emphasize the seperation between external motions and internal thoughts.
>heißt lamia
German because I was also an Asukafag, this is supposed to mean "the eastern savior's pure, even though they demonize you (Lilith) as lamia". And yes, anima and lamia don't quite rhyme.
>4.
Rei's inner soul and the sanctum of our love.
>cry beyond your heart
Shitty reference to an episode title.
>remembre that Heaven bled
Uranus, producing Aphrodite
>If we forget the wish and wist, in that part
>let us at least have had near-perfection, what so briefly we said.
I was at the time very concerned with the fact that a feeling of sublimity was a temporary experience and couldn't be retained; as pure as one felt at one moment by the next morning it'd be lost even if one didn't do anything shameful.
>Happy Birthday Ayanami. I long for all your touch and mouth and spirit.
Self-explanatory, this also dates the poem to March 30th, 2014.

>>
>>8501537

*sister.
I understand what you're saying but it doesn't work like that most of the time. I am politically aware and all my discussions with contrarian/conservative guys after some time ended nowhere. You just get really worked up and think the other person is a fucking illiterate. If you really want a significative exchange with another person, 'to think together', 'to set fire to the heart' (nice), maybe you should look for a girl that is not your absolute contrarian, someone you share some ideological common ground with.
>>
>>8501582
>>8501550
I liked it anon. Tbh though my plebian brain can't even read poetry anymore I loved it my dude. Genuinely made me feel like you loved her.
>>
>>8501606
my god, even under the influence of alcohol i am shocked.
ideological ground build only one ideal, any other is false; this would raise more issues than erect penises, i assure you.
your problem is that they aren't politically aware conservatives, they are illiterates as you said, finding comfort in a cozy ideological box.
as to 'looking for a girl', i find this hypocritical, at least for me. i merely look At a girl and judge, the rest, concerning whether i should promote the shared situation to an intimate one, is really just us, or just me, rationalizing the irrational feeling we had of whether we should promote it or not. it's a very disgusting business thing this relationship etc thing. it is also rather hypocritical of me to criticize your points after i asked for them, but that's just another game we play, give me x so i reject it and use y while satisfied. kik me @fabriczygot to expand, i'm available till i pass out, and then i'll return tomorrow afternoon unless a tragedy takes place
