What's stopping you from finishing that book you've always wanted to read /lit/?
It requires that I learn French
I like the idea of reading it more than I like reading it
I dont understand it, I'm stuck eternally re reading everything

Ulysses, it's too beautiful to finish. I would rather read half of it, finish other books, then repeat.

I've decided that if I ever read In Search of Lost Time I have to read it in french.
Is it worth learning french just to read it?
I don't understand this thread or anyone in it, aside from the language barrier guys.
I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.
The idea of wanting to read a book seems a little ridiculous to me, but I've honestly never given it much thought until I saw this thread. People just suggest books to me and if I find them and they keep my attention I finish them.
Am I intellectually deficient for not having reading aspirations?

No, It sounds like you have a healthy mind

OCD. I tell myself I'll return when I've dealt with my problems but then fucking Epicurus pops into my head and tells me "It is bothersome always to be beginning life." and I try again and fail and it just sets me back in everything tbqh.
If I want to read a book I
1. Download it
2. Use my library network
3. buy it on amazon or thriftbooks
If I cant find it then I go absolutely bonkers looking for it, paying exorbitant prices.
The one language barrier book I want to read is Verdun: Das grosse Gericht by Ettighoffer which seemingly was never translated.
Also Ulysses and IJ because they are huge trolls that never got enjoyable 300 pages in.
Also Mason & Dixon, because I hate the talking dog and I always put it down at that part.
