He had some kind of seizure and had no family. I visited him in the hospital and took him a copy of Dune to help pass the time while they ran tests. The seizure happened again and he went into a vegetative state after he signed a DNR. His vitals failed while I was visiting and I watched him die. I took him the copy of Dune because of the few times he read some of his work, he would read from his continuing story about a dying kingdom on the edge of a vast desert. The story centered around the captain of the Kings guard as they decided in secret that a coup must take place to save the populace and that someone must venture into the vast desert to find the answer to why it continued to swell and envelop their world. I felt Dune might be appropriate. After he passed, it turned out he had a cousin who was coming to claim his material possessions. I made contact with him and tried to gain access to his work to preserve it but the jerk took his laptops and things, wiped their memories and pawned them. Dans work is forever gone save for what I remember so I'm adding it as a big arc in my next series and he'll be listed as a contributor. It's the least I can do.

Tonight's actually the first night in a while. I've been working on a science fiction story that is falling apart into fantasy for a few years now I guess (1 or 2), and it's been a few weeks since I touched it

Epublished first book in May. Making decent sales but still an unknown (no surprise) next book in series comes out in 3 weeks and a new one every 3-4 months through 2018. I check in from time to time to talk to other writers. There's some nice people here who have literary ambitions other than shitposting and its educational to swap market info. I have at least one short story I'm working on inspired by one of their songs. I hope to complete a microfiction story based on this song for submission to an online anthology, just to say I've been published.
Character inspirations for other story ideas also come from a few of their tracks across multiple albums. In this regard, mostly I look for inspiration re angels, devils, people looking for redemption. There's a plethora of inspiration in their songs and just plain old mood setting for some of their instrumentals that I find helpful.

If I can do it, you can. You have to REALLY want it and decide that writing your thing is more important than other stuff. Once you get it under your skin, you'll want to do it all the time and you'll wonder what you were doing before you started writing. Imagine the coolest fucking idea you can think of and start writing it. You don't need a new MacBook or Starbucks, just something to write on, (ms word is just fine) ive used the notepad option on my iPhone. Cut and paste in an email and then refine in word.
