What is /lit/'s consensus on Brian Herbert?
Did he follow in the footsteps of his father, or was he just autist that tried to turn Dune into Star Wars?
His father was at least a visionary.
He on the other hand is a complete and utter hack

Garbage. Does he even write any of it, or is he just drinking buddies with KJA (who churns out like five books a year)

I think Dune needed an update with modern references, (internet being a thing, for example, that Frank couldn't conceive).
It makes the technophobia of the Corrino Empire seem more believable.
I won't give Brian Herbert the time of the day JUST for how picking up after your dead father with an already established generic scifi author and an already established universe simply looks. It may not be that he is mining his father's legacy, it may be that he writes some portion of the text, it may be that they aren't the worst things in the universe but still Brian Herbert is someone I disrespect.
I have never read any of the Brian and KJA books, never will.
I haven't even read Dune and I'm aware of what the consensus is.

It would have been better if he published his father's notes then wrote his own stuff as a kind of fan fiction instead of pulling a Frank Sinatra Jr.
>I'm making money off my dead Daddy's name
>Ababada bo daaa *finger snaps*
Do these books try to emulate Frank's writing? It's not good writing, but he definitely has his noticeable word choices and phrasings.

No. They have a more modern writing style.

Either way I'd damn them, but what garbage...
