>tfw you drudged through 200 pages through IJ
>everybody says it picks up at that point
I haven't touched the book in months should I go back and re-read it or just start up again?

I read up to page 300 with the same thing in mind. It's been over a year since I've read any serious amount beyond that. I enjoyed some moments so far, but I just don't see myself finishing it anytime soon, if ever.
While we're confessing that we didn't read Infinite Jest, I burnt out around page 300-350.
That book's not difficult, it's just very dull. I'm a relatively fast reader (not for /lit/ standards, I guess, but way faster than a typical normie with surface interest in literature) and it took me something like 9 months to force myself to read it.
Keep in mind I read Ulysses in 9 or 10 days
damn you guys are fucking pussies. I read the recognitions and found it meh the whole way through.
Just give up. Trust me you are not missing anything. That book was a waste of time. Worst book I have ever read.

yeah, it just didn't appeal to me either, when i saw the shitty rendition of the chick in the mental hospital i became furious with autistic rage and ripped the novel apart.

i don't think it's fair to compare The Recognitions to IJ, i mean, The Recognitions was a lampoon on people like DFW in the first place
It's not a difficult book, it's turgid garbage.
