How long do you guys and grills usually allow a book to digest before starting another one?
Unless the book was trashman or left absolutely no impression on me at all I usually take a minimum of two days. During this time I might investigate the life of the author a little bit, read a critical essay he wrote, or even look into a research paper or two if I have unresolved issues. I might go back and write down passages I thought especially beautiful or skillful, and will usually mull the author and his associated paraphernalia when I go on walks and such.
I also usually read something light and short in the interim. I'm currently reading Willie Masters' Lonesome Wife to kind of cleanse my pallet a bit and get the taste of the previous author out of my mouth [which is a really fucking fun book btw.]
honestly I'll finish a book and put it down. wait a few seccond then pick up another book.

Even with a book like Neuromancer I'll wait a day at least. Don't you feel like things run together; like your fillet tastes uncomfortably like your soup.

that's pretty dumb. I'll think about the book I just finished for a few days while reading my new one.
Depends how good the book was. If it left no impact I will already be reading my next book. If it left behind a good morsel of thought- two days maybe?
I try to sit in silence for at least ten minutes to meditate on the entire experience. Not moving from my spot, no looking at a phone or eating, that kind of thing. If it's in the evening I'll usually go to sleep and start something new tomorrow. If it's earlier, I'll do something for a few hours and start a new book later in the day.
I'm going from a Murakami, to a Milton with an interim of one day.

literally autism
Usually when I finish a book I'm left with a craving for more, so I start on a new book immediately.

what Milton?

Paradise Lost
I'm not a serious reader by any means. I'm quite new to /lit/, and this will the the most "ambitious" piece I've read yet. You could probably deduce all that from me previously mentioning Murakami.
