I don't think it's wise to speed read; I find it better to just set aside more time to read.

Over the past 2 weeks I read 13 books, shortest of them being The Myth of Sisyphus or Heart of Darkness. I'm on break right now, so I can do that. But even setting aside 2 hours a day should be enough to read a non epic sized book (took me 2 days to read Dance Dance Dance which is about 400 pages)

I meant two hours a day a week so a total of 14 hours a week for one book (that's being kind of generous I think)

why do you think that? Does reading comprehension diminish if you speed read?

For me, personally, yes. Maybe you can train yourself so that a glimpse of a line is enough to produce an action in your head, but for me I enjoy it at a listener's pace (as I read to myself often because I'm more auditory than anything).

If you can do ito, then go for it. But I don't see it working for me and I'm comfortable being able to do a book a week (that's my minimum goal for next year)

I wanted to speed read so I could read more about the genre I love most "fantasy". The problem is that I take a lot of time to end a novel, more than one week, even if I read daily.

But after browsing on the web, I saw that speed reading had a bad rep in this last decade. Some people considered more like a scam or simply useless.

I guess I could just keep reading until I get faster (maybe)

Speed reading is literally just skimming for basic info. It's helpful if you're just reading the news or for work or school. However you can only get the most out of literature by going slowly and thinking deeply about what you're reading.

hey man, reading isnt a race. if youre enjoying the book, who cares how slow you read it?

I know you want to read more, but if you already read daily then youre at a good place.
