What does /lit/ think of Palahniuk? Is pic related his best work? Any authors with a similar style?
I know what /lit/ thinks of him, but even I personally don't like Fight Club (which is the only thing I've read of him).
The best thing about it is social critique that could be summed up within 10 pages, the rest is fluff.
I'd say Rant and Survivor are his only books worth reading, but he's not a good writer. "Blah blah blah some edgy set up, whoa, bet you didn't see THIS coming! He was his moms the whole time?"
He has a whole catalogue of shit books, I read all of them in middle school.
Lullaby's okay too, I guess.

Read Fight Club. Dropped it about 90% of the way through.
Skimmed Choke. More overly smug social commentary, shock value, and elbow-nudging.
Nope.

Also, Brett Easton Ellis is the author I've read who is most comparable to Palahniuk.
And then Vonnegut probably.
