I know /lit/ isn't my personal army, but I'm a non-native English speaker and I'm writing a paper on Christina Rossetti and looking for a definition.
How would you guys define the term 'sexual sacrifice'?
Is it the act of giving up sex (i.e. becoming a nun), or having unwanted sex (i.e. prostitution)?

Sexual sacrifice is when you stay a virgin for life to gain wizard powers. Through the offering of sex to the NEET gods, a higher state of existence is achieved.

I'm meant to be comparing Rossetti's Convent Threshold and George Bernard Shaw's problem play Mrs Warren's profession. The essay title asks to compare the way 'sexual sacrifice' is shown.
Obviously one is about repenting the sins of sex outside marriage, one is about the morals of prostitution. When I first read 'sexual sacrifice' I first thought of prostitution but I don't know if thats the right way to go about it.

I'd think it's the former mate. Giving it up. At least, that's what fits the phrasing the best.

I think you might be right. Looking up the definition of 'sacrifice' it's hard to find any that you could apply to 'sexual sacrifice' to make it read the way I want it, it would have to be the opposite, like 'virginal sacrifice' or some shit.
