I wouldn't say "based", but pic related was conceived and largely written on the Q train.

I'm from Bushwick. Graduated Hunter a year and a half ago. Working minimum wage and writing. I'm so depressed.

Is Bushwick as much of a shithole as it seems to be? I've only been there a handful of times and it feels like hipster Canarsie with less projects.

It has good dancing and drinking, but the housing stock is miserable and it's guaranteed that every white person there is way wealthier than you and every black or Hispanic person there is way poorer. It was not the most pleasant place to live but I still somehow miss it.

Molasses Books on Hart St. has a small but very good collection, and they serve beer, by the way. A nice hang out. It's also far enough from the Morgan L line that you avoid the tourists.

Columbia undergrad here.

Nothing to do with writing/English/literature though.
