It's shit, don't read him.
Read No Longer Human, or Infinite Jest instead.

Faust is something else, I've never read anything quite like that. Also when I first encountered his poetry I suffered a minor identity crisis because he had already written what I had been trying to write for years and so much better than I ever could. I repressed this by changing the style of my poetry

One of the most renowned authors ever; second only to Shakespeare. Der Leiden Des Jungen Wetter was a massive sensation during its début and Faust is one of the most influential works of literature; modern gothic and horror art wouldn't be the same if not for it. He's also my personal favorite German Writer. His poems are simple to read; great for studying German. His poem, Der Erlkonig is one of the greatest things I've read.

If you liked that you ought to check out the musical accompaniment by Franz Schubert.

Loved Faust.
I recently read his letters/correspondence with Carlyle, which I'd highly recommend.

Sorrows was great, though somehow much more romantic than I expected. It sort of reminded me of Wuthering Heights. Really want to read Faust - hoping to find a good ebook translation but failing so far.
Auden a good translation? I know Nabokov didn't like him.
