Is it worth pursuing a Masters in Writing or something similar?

I have a similar situation, I think I'm choosing not to pursue it because all my writing profs so far have been biased beyond belief and that kind of restrictive environment won't help me. But who knows, you might get good profs who actually help you out.

Submit to lower tier periodicals first at least. You're likely to get published and it's good to have that base of work and experience for such courses.
