What is the point of this book? I've read a little past the halfway point, but I'm losing interest... Did you like this? What's good about it?

its one of those books that make you realize its fucking amazing only after you've finished it.
I hate to sound like such a pleb but I didn't really get the "point" either. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to feel when the book was over. I never found any dramatic or thematic arcs carried out to conclusion

What languages do you speak, anon? XD
also the character that is supposed to be the author (Belano) is less interesting than his partner, Ulises

English, Spanish, a bit of German and trying to read Chinese.

what's the point of anything my dude
really tho its basically bolano changing just enough of his own past experience so that its fiction, probably meant a fuckton to him but if you dont dig it thats probably fine. try 2666, you might like it better, or don't

What? You mean to say you read it in the original Korean sub-dialect?
>>8389829
Its a better version of On the Road.
I assume you're past Mexicans Lost in Mexico part? I read the entire book in a week when I was in bed with a fever and it all felt like a dream. Once you get to the revolution part (can't remember the name of the woman involved) thats when it really clicked with me.

Should I read SD before 2666?
>>8390263
Its not required but you can if you want. I plowed through all of Bolanos oeuvre I could get my hands on in the span of 6 months so reading 2666 I noticed callbacks to certain themes in his shorts and other works meanwhile being a completely different beast to everything before it.
