Sorry /lit/, but I just can do it. I can't read effectively on an e-reader. Does anyone feel the same way? If you don't, why do you like e-readers?
Yeah same here. I'm not trying to be pretentious I just don't like e-readers. In all honesty it's because I get distracted way to easily if my "book" can go on the internet and play music.

Music on your Kindle? Also just don't connect it to internet, and even connected you can't do shit because the browser sucks

It's the exact opposite for me. I don't know if it's because a backlit e-reader that lets me change the font size allows someone with shitty vision like me to read without any eyestrain, but I can go indefinitely. Yesterday I read an entire 400 page book in a single day, and I haven't done that since grade school.

A tablet isn't an e-raader. A proper e-reader is designed to minimize those distractions. All they tend to have is an online store to purchase books, and a really crappy, difficult to access browser that's only really usable for wikipedia.

On top of minimizing distraction they have an e-ink glare free display, something OP doesn't seem to be aware of but should be
I have a kindle and it's fine for me, but I still prefer actual books. Both have their uses.
No matter how short the book is, it feels endless when I read on my Kindle. I like to see, physically, how far I am in the book and a percentage just doesn't do it for me. I've started reading on my phone. It gives me an estimated time on when I'll finish the chapter I'm in. I prefer actual books but I can torrent e-books.
