It's an oddball work. In some ways, it's a great fictionalized/idealized reworking of the creation of Superman and the Jewish WWII immigrant experience, but the narrative spirals into more and more absurd deus ex machina (as the plotline of the title character artists becomes that of their comic books) and the last quarter was ridiculous enough that I was impatient with it. Worth reading, but it's certainly not above criticism.
