Need a new read, any good fantasy recommandations?
Finished Wheel of Time, Stormlight and kingkiller chronicle among others. Would prefer something else than Sanderson as his books often follow a general formula
Try the Malazan Book of the Fallen series - if you're the kind of person who was able to finish the WoT it should appeal to you, it's a very long series but incredibly well detailed and developed, to the extent it could very well be a history of a fantastical world more than just a fantasy series.

Tried gardens of the moon but didnt get into it (several years ago and didnt read too much of it). Does it get more interesting further in the book/serie?

Already read and it follows the general Sanderson formula. Enjoyed it alot tho

Yeah. it definitely does.
It took me 2 or 3 tries to get past Gardens of the Moon myself, but now I consider it to be my favourite fantasy series.
If you're looking for less of an investment though, try Abecrombie's First Law trilogy for a much darker but also very gripping series, or the Greatcoats series which has a kingkiller esque protagonist who is good at everything, but it still very good regardless.

Guess i might give Malazans a second try.
Any more spoiler free info on Abecrombie's trilogy? Most of what ive read so far wouldnt really be called dark at all.
Geatcoats would be eventually. While i enjoy kingkiller (mostly) the sort of "good at everything" character is something that ticks me off

The show and book begin to diverge a lot after the first book/first season
