When was the last time you actually read purely for enjoyment rather than to impress people with your catalogue of finished works?
two days ago. i can't find the book now. you?
Today

Today, and most days.
When all your peers read often, no one is really impressed with it. Maybe impressed with the writing I do about the reading.
A few hours ago.
all the time, why tf would I take recs from you faggots lol

did you steal my book?
Two, maybe three hours ago
What genre of porn should I masturbate to?

For a long time, I couldn't jerk off to interracial with a black man, because an ex gf cheated on me with a black dude. But since I started fucking a new bitch, I can jerk it to black dudes ploughing tiny white chicks.
Try that.

Last night. I read for pleasure before bed each night.
>>8340963
' o '. pls give back, no dog ears.
>>8340735
I'm reading David Sedaris right now. I doubt anyone would be impressed by that.
His primary audience is college white girls but the mans funny imo.
I read for survival, not pleasure or to impress anyone.

All the time.
When was the last time you contributed a good thread to this board?

kek
Neil Postman's book about disappearance of childhood. Enjoyed the second half so much that I read it about eight times through.

nobody is or should be impressed by reading inherent vice
great book tho, love that arpanet
>>8340735
Last night. I am reading Blood Meridian. Nobody reads that devilish prose just to impress people.
Is reading even supposed to be impressive?
>oh shit that guy is staring at words for hours on end, what badass!
Someone who can draw a beautiful picture is impressive, so is someone who can build a house, compose a symphony, do 200 push-ups. Any retard can look at words.
>replace 'book' with 'album'

Good post OP. Anon should stopped reading only what Anon is «allowed» to by /lit/.
>>8340735
i always read for enjoyment i just so happen to read a lot of classic works in addition to non fiction and genre fiction
>>8340899
try quitting porn for a few days, eventually you will get the most powerul urge to jack off (maybe a girl you see in the street, maybe just the thought of porn) and it will be much more enjoyable
>>8340735
A couple days ago. I read The Trouble with Being Born, which I loved. Now I'm struggling to make myself read Milton because I hate him.
>>8342380
This is the first time.
It's a trickery situation. I have a list of completed books like you said, but I don't share it with others. I am reading to impress my own super ego
>>8342677
I figured I should ask a board which consists of people besides completely joyless fucks.
>>8340735
All the time. You'd have to be a pleb to not enjoy a lot of the "harder" authors.
>>8343177
It might be same here. Not sure though.
I also like to think i am smart, regardless the evidence proving the opposite.
>>8340899
Abandon porn altogether.
It's not worth the time or energy.

I'm an occultist, but a very non-traditional one, so it can be tricky for me to read something like this. Like, I can read Aurelius or Cioran and see "Ha! This agrees largely with my perspective!", but then someone like Milton has his own entire system built up and I'm pretty sure it's not compatible at all. But I should read before I judge really.

40 minutes ago. I don't discuss literature IRL.
>>8340735
Never.
>implying i'm able to experience pleasure
>>8344839
>What kind of tool would talk about literature irl
I don't know where to begin here, so I won't begin at all.
>>8340735
I read light novels, because they're fun to read
I do the same thing with manga; I just cover them in between the pages of a hardback 1000 page minimum classic novel.
I'm literally reading a philosophy textbook in between 4chan posts because I wanted to learn more about the fundamentals of the subject.its pretty neat familia
>>8346366
I enjoy discussing the finer points of characterization and plotting here on /lit/ even though 90% of what I read is manga. I'm just a visual person who likes dialogue, so I don't see the problem with it
>>8340735
Yesterday. I enjoyed Protogoras, I've enjoyed every one of Plato's works so far
