Daily reminder that if you browse /lit/ and you even have an opinion on this motherfucker you're a pleb yourself.

Being here and hating this guy is the equivalent of those grown ass men who go out of their way to criticize Justin Bieber or One Direction. It's the sign of someone whose tastes are just barely above those of a teenage girl, and he's upset because he feels like the position of the stuff he likes in mainstream culture is threatened by what those girls like.

>Calling him shit because his work is objectivly shit as renowned writer Dan Brown

OP is making a good rhetorical point that at some point in their lives, (in modern consumer society, at any rate --- where people also live much longer lives and therefore have more time for their tastes to change and get bored of certain things) people are personally just plain "past" certain areas of culture, and just don't care anymore. So just as it would be somewaht ridiculous and incongruous for the average 50-year old man to take personal offense at the existence of pop idols (or to even care about them at all), so too is it supposed to be silly, as the OP would like it, to care about that one guy.

In all seriousness, I wish to state for the record that I'm pretty sure that the guy in the OP photo is author John Green (and also that I'm not 100% on this), and that I've been aware of his meme-mockery on this board for the past few months, by selections of his prose or imitations of it. OP's thing is really stroking me off just now because I honstly just dgaf, and I have a blissful ignorance of the guy's allegedly terrible writing.

That said, I've read snippets of the mock-meme threads, and found whatever I was actually reading to be perfectly fine prose, whether it was intended in mock-jest, an actual passage of his, or other rhetorical swipe.

hey OP, so if I may ask, what's the difference between someone on /lit/ making fun of this guy and someone on /lit/ making fun of any other writer? it's not the way this board tends to make fun of him. it's not frequency at which this board tends to make fun of him. it's not really the reasons for which this board makes fun of him either (bad prose, dumb dialogue, reasons of taste). so what is it that makes him different, OP?

could it be that you are resorting to the same kind of pedestrian tendencies of the people you criticize by focusing on some arbitrary class system based on whether or not you've "passed" certain ideas and opinions about art/artists, and then concluding that you must be "above" other people in said hierarchy because you don't adhere to their supposedly cliche criticisms of an artist that you either don't care about or haven't read? could it be that you are inserting yourself into something that isn't of any interest to you in order to feel better about yourself?

Except Justin Bieber isn't a pseud, dumbass.

You told him
But honeslty, we could go down this road a whole life and no one would be saved from the "You are just doing it to please something/someone else"
It's literal skeptic hell.

yeah, I suppose you're right. I just thought that OP's criticisms were kind of weird and unprecedented, and they're a clear example of someone taking this website seriously instead of just using it for the memes

He could always be trolling us. The beauty of this shithole is that even tho its a palce where serious and open discussion can be had about any topic there is also the possibility that nothing wroten is true.
Anyhow, John Green is worse than AIDS, that much is true.
>>
>I have no fucking idea who that photo is of.
>"John Green"
>I have no fucking idea who that is.
Guess I'm safe.
