I'm a bit more interested in British/World literature of that general period (although I really enjoy the interwar period as well), but I'd love to hear your thoughts on Baldwin-- he's a bit of an odd inclusion in your list, although I really liked Notes of a Native Son.

I feel like I'm already friends with everybody who will be posting in this thread, but if you're new, I'm always happy to make new friends, no matter your taste.

I'll probably start writing reviews soon, maybe beginning with books I've already read this year.

So young and serious.
>>
>>8318273
If I reread it I'm fairly certain that I would drop the rating, but it was just the right thing at the right time (same with The Fountainhead).
>>

my tastes are terrible but I'm friendly!
>>
I'd like to make friends, but i don't actually use goodfreads since the first time i logged in :/

Recall that this person gave 5 stars to 'Anthem', then maybe consider the irony of what you just said

I do not accept this defence

Pinkyivan I know you're in here. I just want to let you know that you're a swell guy :)

That's alright, you don't have to. Have you posted your profile? I'm always interested in seeing other posters' tastes, especially in a thread like this.
>>
>>8318293

Isn't that her one good book?

When I was 18 I read half of Battlefield Earth before figuring out that it was bad. I had no idea it had anything to do with Scientology until my roommate pointed it out. I didn't know who Elron Hubbard was.

I made a mistake and thought you were replying to a different post. Actually I'm really fond of that assessment. I am young and I am serious, even if it is naive seriousness.

I never post here or on 4chan but I like to read this board. I use goodreads to log books I want to read or want to read.

I read whatever is intresting. Pretty much only well known authors most popular works.

Idk add me if you want
>>
how do you guys manage / keep track of re-reads?
i'm not fond of the status system so i don't rely on that. not that it matters, but i'd be fun to see some stats at the end of the year.
>>
https://www.goodreads.com/Hallogallo
>>
>>8320047
the system doesn't really accomodate for it but I just dont worry about it. I'm about to re-read Lolita and I know it's kind of embarassing to log it as normal and make people think you're only reading it for the first time, but you have to just ignore that, or don't log it into goodreads at all. If you're trying to read the same book in one year and count it twice towards your reading challenge, you cant do that

OR you might be able to use the scan function to shelve two different eds of the same book at once but that has its own problems
>>
https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/16159568-jack

feel free to add me, i really enjoy reading other people's quick thoughts and reviews on whatever they read, and intend to do that more for whatever i'm reading presently
>>
>>8320047

same here. That 'Number of times I've read this book' option is no good. If the book is old and has several entries and translations, I just check another one with similar amount of pages.
>>
>>8320162
>>8320189
thanks for the info, glad to know i didn't miss an obvious functionality.

last.fm has spoiled me with the capacity to get all kind of useless stats about my life so i was hoping to do the same here, but it's no biggie.
>>
>>8320254

LibraryThing is better for stats. Too bad the webdesign is so ugly it reminds me of internet explorer.

because i'm on /iit/, everything is shit.
