>Buy copy of "I, Robot" with the promo poster for the Will Smith film as the cover art
>Spend more time while reading trying to figure out exactly what these things have in common than I do following the action
Seriously, has any other remake done more damage to the source material than that movie? It used like 5% of the book's content, at most, and nothing about it resembled Asimov. I mean, Jackson's Hobbit trilogy was closer to the source material than this movie.

I raise you a Johnny Mnemonic. One of the few reasons why we should be glad Neuromancer hasn't been adapted.

Why does Will Smith like to star in adaptions that shit all over the source material?
>>
>>8313988
Is it really that bad?

Mh... not as bad as the I, Robot adaptation, but much more different than the source. And still bad.

Have a !Molly. But hey, at least she isn't called Molly in the film, but Jane, so we can be glad and say she isn't Molly.

Go play Unteralterbach.

Aisha is delicious. Allahu snackbar in Mumu's name.

Unfortunately I haven't read Asimov yet.
I usually don't watch movies but the trailer of Mnemonic looks pretty fun.
Are there any Gibson adaptations worth a damn?

>Are there any Gibson adaptations worth a damn?
Nope.

There's fucktons of works heavily - inspired - by Gibson that are superb though. Most clearly the Ghost in the Shell movies and TV shows.

Oh well. How about that old Neuromancer game?

Quite honestly most of the stuff that's labelled as cyberpunk just doesn't feel right to me if it's not Gibson. He nailed it perfectly.
I guess the solution is just reading more Gibson.
>>
>>8314150
Funniest part is how Gibson's best work isn't Cyberpunk, but an essay about Singapore.

I'm keeping his non-fiction stuff for last. Getting those might be a bit tricky in Eastern Europe, but I'm sure it's worth it.

Distrust That Particular Flavor is his non-fiction essay collection.

Once you read it and if you like it, import it.

Cheers anon, but unfortunately I hate reading digital.

lmao you could tell they ran out of money halfway through because of all the product placements.

I finished the book a ago after watching the movie a couple of times, it blew my mind how different they were

What we need is a massively wealthy director who's also an incredible Gibson nerd.

A theater cut of Neuromancer could fit nicely within ~2 hours without losing too much, and a director's cut of around 3 would be enough to faithfully adapt the whole thing.
>>
>>8313977
I might be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that I, Robot the movie was a completely unrelated script to begin with, and then when the studio got ahold of the rights to Asimov they just stuck the title on it.
>>
>>8314605
>>8313988
Gibson wrote the screenplay.
>>
i actually don't mind the I, Robot film because the book was just a series of short stories from the same universe and i just thought of the film as another story
