I've read The Idiot, I've read Crime and Punishment and from the first 40 pages I'm convinced The Brothers Karamazov isn't worth finishing and I should begin Moby Dick instead. Can I double check this with /lit? Thanks,
I had this problem when I was fourteen, but then I wasn't a loser and decided to finish it and it was great.
Thank God I had at least a few years of innocent reading before I discovered this place.

People like you shouldn't be allowed to read.
hehe x)
I could be re-reading The Magic Mountain instead of what is obviously going to be the same predicament again
Is there a messianic idiot in the book?
>yes
is there going to be a murder?
>yes
is property and money involved?
>yes
will I get 3/4 way through to a rural feast scene or society ball where the whole plot disintegrates for 50 pages and no-one could explain what is happening?
>probably

I enjoyed it the least of anything I read by Tolstoy or Dostoevsky. Still an excellent book.
Yeah, read it coz it's a Great, Important Novel, but desu it's one of the most overrated&overwritten books ever. The first part is much, much better than the second.
