I enjoyed the book, but I doubt anyone here agrees with me, I have this notably un-patrician quality of being able to enjoy things that aren't high-brow or complex for the "so deep" effect. Worthy gift, especially for a chick that's into fantasy, just don't do that "future girlfriend" shit, please.
