/lit/, what are good "books to keep on hand'? I thinking books that you can read a small section of, and even skip around, but still enjoy and get something out of it. Probably something that's good to carry around in a backpack, and read bits of when you get a chance, but at the same time "dense" enough to settle in for a long session.
The only books I know of like this are Leaves of Grass and Metamorphoses
The Norton Anthology of Poetry is great for this, you can even get the shorter edition if the size/weight are too much; just turn to a random page, and read a random poem.
