When you read people on here saying Pynchon's too difficult, nothing happens, he's just a "look at how esoteric I am" writer, etc., it's clear they haven't read anything he's written. He doesn't take himself seriously at all, aside from his sentimental, heartfelt moments. He's just in it for fun. These people's criticisms may apply to a large percentage of pomo writers, but definitely not Pynchon
