i've never seen anybody claim in any plausible way to be published in a selling-type way
(there are also some academics who have published books no one buys, but i think you're referring to fiction)

I wrote a story in two days that sold for over 1200 which I donated to someone's medicial bills, the motive for the project. Then I wrote for 3 years on a huge critical work, poured my heart and soul into it, and after six months it has made about ... 260 dollars. But the cover is nice. So yeah.
