Is there a name for compound words made out of an adjective and a verb?
e.g.
>Far-seeing, loud-thundering Zeus
>>7716691
adjective verb or adverb for short
>>7717046
They're modifying "Zeus", so they're obviously adjectives not adverbs. But there has to be a special name for this particular type.
>>7716691
Deverbal adjective where the original verb has an adverbial modifier
>>7717087
Loud is modifying thundering, so is an adverb though
epithet
The ones that you've cited are compound modifiers or compound adjectives. They function essentially as adjectives. They're not adverbs.
I don't believe there's any specific name for a compound modifier built out of an adjective followed by a present participle though.

Yeah you're right. But it doesn't take the typical form, "loudly thundering" in this type of word.
>>7717161
Like the compound word is a single adjective?
That specific example is an epithet. I don't know what else you'd call it.

Let's name it, then.
