Il suffit d'un seul auteur du siècle dernier pour tous les enterrer, ce qui est assez triste.

C'est fou ce que la littérature est mauvaise de nos jours en France.

>French

Yes. That's what I'm asking about.
>>
>>7474088
>Jean Echenoz
>Pascal Quignard
>Pierre Michon
>Emmanuel Carrère
>+ Michel Tournier, Patrick Modiano, Michel Houellebecq, Mathias Énard, Marie NDiaye

Good.

>Jonathan Littell

Shit.

>+ Michel Tournier, Patrick Modiano, Michel Houellebecq
These were on my original list but I removed because everyone knows them :P
>>
BTW this was originally a list of authors who won two or more of seven major French literary prizes since 1950 or so. I removed a few of the more famous authors, like these >>7474253, Le Clézio and Perec
>>
>>7474295
Which prizes are you including?
>>
>>7474310
Pretty sure it was Grand prix du roman de l'Académie française, Prix Décembre, Prix Fénéon, Prix Goncourt, Prix Littéraire Valery Larbaud, Prix Médicis and Prix Renaudot
>>
>>7474318
I specifically excluded Prix Femina btw b/c fuck that >:)
>>
bunp

Michon est vraiment excellent, c'est tout ce que je sais

That's true.

Jesus Christ, man. What kind of a clusterfuck of a post is this? 43 authors with barely a question? Sure there's some shitty reason that they all are on a list together, but what do you expect from this?

>>7474212
is the best reply that you're gonna get from this thread. There's barely anything to discuss. Jesus.
>>
>>7476738
Most of those authors were already on my radar, but I will also look into Carrère, Énard and NDiaye. I was also suspicious of Littell in particular.
>>
,
>>
>>7476738
>There's barely anything to discuss
because /lit/ doesn't actually read
>>
>>7477570
A lot of these authors haven't been translated, so I can't blame anyone for not having read them
>>
>>7476714
More like golden shower.
>>
>>7478302
I think that's the idea.
>>
>>7474088
Contemporary French literature is garbage. Jonathan Littell wrote a great novel, Emmanuel Carrère tells nice stories in uninteresting prose, Houellebecq's Soumission is his only worthwhile novel, be it about style or content.
>>
>>7478568
>Contemporary French literature is garbage. Jonathan Littell wrote a great novel
That's some taste you got there
>>
>>7478568
>>7478568
hahahaha
litell has no grasp of the French language.
>>
Any more French anons around?
>>
>>7480170
What are some literatures that you consider underrated?
>>
>>7480752
Hungarian:
>Krasznahorkai
>Nádas
>Kertész
>Esterházy
>Bodor
>Konrád

Can't name many countries with living writers as good as that.
>>
>>7480797
Hungarian literature (and Eastern European literature in general) actually does seem to be getting substantial attention from the anglophone literary community (esp. those you list), but there are some literatures that seem to get practically no attention, like Central Asian (Uzbek, Kazakh, etc) and Southeast Asian (Indonesian, Vietnamese, etc). I'm sure there's some notable literature from those regions, even if they might not be the wealthiest places on Earth.
