>If it were not for these stories—jokes—jests I should die; they give vent—are the vents of my moods and gloom
What did he mean by this?

Has something to do with how your mom sticks 18 inch black dongs up her bung.

It means he killed himself because his friends didn't think one of his jokes was funny

And you're uglier than Abraham Lincoln.
Knowing DFW killed himself makes me sad every time I think about it.

Thanks for this extremely sincere post. 4chan is really missing this kind of sincerity a lot of the time.

Same. He really inspired me to start reading and writing.

If only he'd had talent. It could have been avoided.

>mfw sincerityfags think everything they don't agree with must be ironic because everyone secretly shares their opinions
literally 'anyone who disagrees with me is trolling,' the ideology
Almost as bad as christians who think atheists secretly believe in god and worship the devil

No problem. I started reading Infinite Jest recently, on about page 270 right now, and I'm really enjoying it. While I read, I'm fascinated that one person could've written this whole thing, so I started reading some of his essays, and then read about why he killed himself and for some reason it's almost soul-crushing for me to think that David Foster Wallace killed himself.

He killed himself because he was afraid people were gonna make fun of his book :/
>>7427652
having had a similar crisis/mental breakdown around the same time he did in his 20s, which reflecting on later he said didn't bode well for his longevity, makes me feel the same way
