why is making a living of art so fucking BS.
It's like there's no middle ground, you could become ultra rich or simply die poor.
wtf man.

You have to exploit the zeitgeist with buzzfeed style memes. That's how you get in.

If your goal is money or fame, you shouldn't try to become an artist.

Many of the greatest writers all had very finely regulated working and sleeping habits.
Because art is hit or miss. Nobody wants "average" art.

Kinda a weird idea. I would think if you're mediocre in the visual arts you become a graphic designer. With photography maybe a wedding photographer. Writers could write magazine articles and articles on transgender period cycles for buzzfeed, or if you're better you could maybe do copywriting for advertising.
Fine artists, novelists and poets are kinda the surgeons of the craft, they are the most elite artists but by no means the richest, & the opposite doesn't necessarily make you poor. Unless you're like, living in Bulgaria or some shit.

I strongly disagree. Most popular art is not even average, it is flat-out mediocre, but this doesn't stop it from selling.
