You should probably start with something lighter. I don't know how far the french tree at duolingo goes, but Baudellaire is pretty difficult even for a native speaker. Try to start with novels. Maybe read something you already read in translation. Start with something recent, the language hasn't changed much since the sevententh century, but the style has gotten lighter. If you really want to read Baudellaire then go for it, you don't need to understand to read.

Probably yeah. I guess reading Shakespeare is comparable with reading Du Bellay or Ronsard in term of language. I'm still jelly that I can't read him, I have a bilingual edition of Romeo and Juliet but it's clear even for me than the translation is vastly inferior to the original.

French poetry before modernism from Ronsard to sully prudhomme is very very easy to read. If you have level b1, b2 or c1.

Hacks like rene char or jaccotet destroy poetry.

He is relatively difficult, as in you would likely have to search a lot of words. If you read on a kindle or something where you can easily access the embedded dictionary, you probably could manage it, but having an English or whatever your language is translation to refer to from time to time wouldn't hurt.

You should probably read a bilingual edition, just to be safe. This one, translated by Anthony Mortimer, is pretty damn good. The translations themselves are some decent standalone poetry. I have some grasp of french as well, and the words or concepts I couldn't understand were all laid out in the translation, although google translator also helped in some more difficult cases
