Recently read this and truly loved it. Are there other similar things? Novels that deal with the pain of disappointment in such a simple, humble way.

The Waves by Woolf fits thematically, though "simple" and "humble" are not words I would use to describe that book, great as it is.
Journey by Moonlight by Antal Szerb might work too, it's another great mid-century melancholic Hungarian novel.

Already read The Waves and I agree with you, Woolf is too sublime to fit in what I'm looking. Great book nonetheless.
