Richard Yates is pretty good and the best distillation of his style.

Everything else is pretty mindnumbingly boring without being worth it, save a few choice lines.

Tao Lin is cool because he does that whole hyper-conscious anti-grandiose millennial prose thing without trying to draw any great conclusions about the world

I've only read Taipei but his whole point is that he's just some 27 year old who knows how to write and doesn't know anything about life or whatever
