Why do people not believe in asexuality. I'm ace because of a fucking hormone problem. I had it fixed, but the concept of sex disgusts me still.

because choosing not to have sex or being put off by it isn't a sexual orientation.

>I had it fixed, but the concept of sex disgusts me still.
Because sexualities are learned and without the hormones to arouse you, you never learned a sexuality.
The "bisexuality is the default" fags are the opposite of true. Asexuality is the default.

I think it's real, but it's quickly becoming a popular label for those who want to feel special, yet do not want to face the hardships that come with being trans or gay. I'm asexual, and I think it's annoying that my mom constantly wants me to hook up, but that's really the only issue i get with being asexual. The asexual community itself is also often annoying as fuck, and usually homophobic.Tumblr, for example, has "ace discourse" all up everywhere, and there's terms like "aphobe" and shit. It's practically a meme there now.
Because statistically speaking asexuals are identical to celibate sexual people, making it one of those "special snowflake" groups not worth analyzing based on empirical evidence alone, c.f. men who have sex with men but refuse to identify as homosexual or bisexual in survey. Those are cunts, not a special class.
>Whether the primary component of asexuality is behavioral (a lack of sexual behavior), desire-based (a lack of sexual desire), or identity-based (labeling oneself as “asexual”) is debatable. Indeed, even among those who identify as asexual, there is a lack of agreement regarding the degree to which an absence of sexual behavior or desire is a necessary component of asexuality (Prause and Graham 2007; Jay 2005; Westphal 2004).
>As anticipated, the prevalence of asexuality among U.S. females and males is the highest when only asexual behavior is used as the criterion... given that our sample of U.S. males and females is between the ages of 15 and 44, it is likely that some of these individuals not yet ever having sex will have sex at a later time.
>The next highest level of prevalence of asexuality was indicated when only self-identification is used, followed by the combination of behavior and self-identification. It is important, however, to reiterate that the “something else” category in the NSFG question pertaining to the identification of one’s sexuality is surely an overinclusive measure of asexuality.
"Patterns of asexuality in the United States" published in Demographic Research.
Read the whole thing and how their results compare to the variance problem in homosexuals not identifying as such and tell me you honestly thing it's still a unique sexuality and not just a desire to be seen as different.

I believe in it I just don't care about it. The difficulties you face being ace are microscopic compared to those of any other lgbt people, and I myself question if asexuality should be considered lgbt+. Its not a sexuality necessarily, but a lack of. Who cares

This. Asexuals are mostly repressed homosexuals who hate admitting to being gay because they barely have sex, or certainly don't under the terms they'd like to have it.

Could you link the doi of that study?
What are self-identifying aces supposed to call themselves if not asexual? If they aren't attracted to other people, homo, hetero, nor bi really fit.
