She transitioned in a community with a complete lack of hormones. She also being a Tiwi Islander comes from a very old community of those around them.

How she articulates gender is in some ways harsh but it's a reflection of her own education and lack of accessible language.

I come from a society that had third gender people, it's wanted because of Christianity even though it thrived in a culture influenced by Islam for centuries.

Quite frankly I am quite proud of her, I think living a life surrounded by a trans community is very fufilling being in one myself.
