This smells of bs to me. If you google average shoulder width this is the only link that has any concrete numbers (without any sources).

On the other hand, there's concrete data that the height of the average US woman is ~5'5. I imagine US women probably have the broadest shoulders in the world on average, but even if the 17'' shoulders claim is exclusively about US women, does this really add up that the average US woman is 5'5 and has 17'' shoulders?

I don't live in the US, but in my country I rarely see a woman with shoulders even close to 17''. A cis girl I know doesn't wear spaghetti straps, because she thinks her shoulders are too broad at 14.5'' with a height of 5'7.

I'm 6'0 with 17" shoulders and it looks 100% fine with an ok amount of cleavage (b cups with padded bra and the shoulders are a non issue)

For a second I was confused and thought I was on /fit/ and replaced HRT with HGH in my head.

Well even though I'm in the wrong place I'll contribute since I wound up here. I'm male, 5'11" and 19 in shoulders (not including the entire deltoid mass). Measured roommate for comparison, she's 5'3" tall and 15" across. Make of that what you will, but it sounds to me like you could be worse off.
