Bathroom bills have proven to be unpopular, even though that's what would be the easiest to get the public to accept. NC for example has lost tremendous amounts of money.
Further, let's take into consideration the attempt to amend a military spending bill to ban military providing SRS (this was about a week before the tweet)- it failed because an amount of Republicans decided against it.
So attempts like this have bipartisan opponents.
