Why is it right to call trans people the correct pronouns and not misgender them?

I know it is right, I just want to know why.

I've been thinking about it lately. It's not just because of our identity, because if that was it then we shouldn't misgender trenders or tumblr gender either.

Why are trans people different from trenders, xe/xim/xer, /pol/ attack helicopters, etc? Because we put effort into being female? Because we're actually trans and need to transition and aren't just doing it as a joke or for attention? Because we're diagnosed with GID and literally are female, neurologically speaking?
>>

You just answered yourself.
>>
"Because we put effort into being female? Because we're actually trans and need to transition and aren't just doing it as a joke or for attention? Because we're diagnosed with GID and literally are female, neurologically speaking?"

that right there. It's the difference between doing something for oppression points and actually being trans
>>
>>8694175
>>8694210
Which answer? None of them match.
>>
>>8694258
How so?
>>
>>8694268
Those are obviously three completely different things. Like, in what way are they the same at all?
>>
>>8694274
Nobody said they are the same, it's just all of them at the same time. They are not mutually exclusive.
>>
>>8694258

They all match- it comes down to one thing. Being really trans.

If you're really trans, you're going to put effort into being female/male. If you're really trans, it's not for attention or a joke. If you're really trans, you have GD and are neurologically the sex you want to be.

I don't want to be trans, but I am. As a result, I'm going to try and be the best woman I can be. That's what's different between me and the trenders. I'm never going to be proud about being trans.
>>
>>8694071
>Why is it right to call trans people the correct pronouns and not misgender them?

It's not right at all. Trannies are mentally ill and playing along with their delusions only harms them in the long run.

When speaking to a tranny, make sure to refer to them by their sex, they need to come to terms with reality.
>>
>>8694281
So fail any one and get misgendered?
>>
>>8694297
Not necessarily- it's really a case by case basis. Personally I just gender everyone correctly as well as I can, but whatever.

Here's what it comes down to- do you consider the other person's gender to be valid? If so, gender them as such. For some people, valid gender means having clinically recognized GD and actually working to transition. For others, it'll simply mean identifying as that gender.
>>
>>8694328
So it's not all of them at the same time then...

Okay though, I get what you're saying. If it comes down to how valid their gender is doesn't that potentially mean "misgendering" cis people though?
>>
>>8694290
How can you be sure of their sex though?
>>
>>8694355
yep, which is why I just take the easy route and call people what they ask to be called. Trying to define strict standards for when and when not to gender someone as they ask is way too much work for me.
>>
>>8694373
That works in casual conversation but sometimes being accurate is more important.
>>
>>8694384

Examples?

Like, for official documentation or whatever, just use whatever the legal reality is- have they had their name changed, their gender marker changed, etc.

For medical, I guess you'd just say "transgender female" or "transgender male", because both their birth sex and gender can make a difference, if they've started transitioning
>>
>>8694394
I mean if I'm debating terfs or alt-righters I can't give them any ammunition by using the wrong pronoun for someone either way.
>>
>>8694398

Either don't use pronouns at all (just say things like "trans people" or the person's name if being specific), or just don't bother debating them

they're coming into the debate with an unwillingness to change. It's a waste of time and effort to do so. Best way to deal with them is just to be happy and live your life. That's what changes the public perception- us being seen as normal people.

Trans acceptance is growing. Just live life, be happy, and help it grow that way- that's the best, and only, way to fight terfs and alt-rightists
>>
To be nice to people?

It should come simply to all those who do not have a worldview that tells them they get the right to bully everyone "out of opinions" they don't like.

Effectively it's the bullies on the playground telling themselves they're doing the world a favor by beating the weird kids normal. In reality, they accomplish nothing and achieve nothing but noise to the further determent of their own self development.

Being nice to others is its own reward. Psychopaths and toadlets will never understand the feeling.

>why is it right to be kind to people and not be a huge leaking asshole to them?
How would you like it if you were constantly referred to as something you're not? If someone puts in the effort to be seen a certain way, don't be a dick and just call them as they present. It kind of worries me that such socially oblivious people are in this world.
>>
>>8694497
They're not oblivious, they're intentionally obtuse because they believe it makes their point for them. All it really does it make the whole group look like a circlejerking clique that cares little about anything related to actual politics and everything related to shitposting IRL.
>>
>>8694071
1) It's respectful. You wouldn't call a married woman by her maiden name, or call anyone else who got a name change for any reason their old name.
2) It recognizes that trans people have made the effort to transition.
3) The only reason to intentionally misgender someone who has transitioned is to signal your hatred. I mean, I've seen it before where /pol/tards and TERFs will call someone correct pronouns and immediately change their tune once they find out that person is trans.
4) Gendered pronouns are *not* based on biological sex unlike what /pol/ and TERFs will tell you, they're based on socially perceived gender. (If you don't pass, you're going to hear the wrong pronoun because that's how people perceive you.) And no, calling a trans person by the wrong pronouns does not "call out their delusion", it outs them and inflicts pain.

No, it signals that you understand basic human biology.
>it outs them and inflicts pain.
So just don't be trans, then? If you were born with a penis, lay off the lipstick and tutu and acknowledge that you'll always be a man to avoid the pain.
>>
>>8694726
As I said, deluded bullies telling themselves they can beat the weird kid normal if only they shit up society enough.

>>8694751
Enjoy trying so hard but never accomplishing that beating.
>>

Enjoy trying so hard but never accomplishing becoming a woman.
>>
>>8694071
Because misgendering someone is being a dick.
Good and evil are relative, but being a dick can not be allowed.

thats pseudoscience.
you are feminine, not female.
and not all trannies are like that anyway.

If you don't respect me, you'll misgender me.
>have made the effort to transition.
If I'm pre-HRT or boymode, you'll misgender me.
>they're based on socially perceived gender.
If you don't perceive me as my correct sex, you'll misgender me.

do you tell gay guys to stop being gay too, and to go fuck a woman and deal with it?

she sure acts like one

it's polite
they want to be called X so it's nice to call them X
why does this have to be complicated?

You wouldn't go up to a disabled person and laugh at him because he can't walk. It's the same with pronouns
>>
You aren't entitled to any terms of address. Calling you a woman is a mark of respect and respect must be earned and can be lost. If you don't have my respect, that's on you.

People here don't actually think any of that is necessary, they would call anyone anything they wanted just because it is nice to do so.

They would call the most hon agp her and would say any of that xer shit if someone asked.

Because hospitality is a trait marker of Western civilization, rarely encountered outside of it.
