There has long been controversy about whether bisexual men are substantially sexually aroused by both sexes. We investigated genital and self-reported sexual arousal to male and female sexual stimuli in 30 heterosexual, 33 bisexual, and 38 homosexual men. In general, bisexual men did not have strong genital arousal to both male and female sexual stimuli. Rather, most bisexual men appeared homosexual with respect to genital arousal, although some appeared heterosexual. In contrast, their subjective sexual arousal did conform to a bisexual pattern. Male bisexuality appears primarily to represent a style of interpreting or reporting sexual arousal rather than a distinct pattern of genital sexual arousal.

all this proves is that humans have a limited focus for what sexually stimulates them at any given time. """gays""" have locked onto their same sex, """straights""" have locked onto the opposite sex. the only reason either of them exist at all is because they have been raised/brainwashed to think that way thanks to cultural expectations. it explains why both go overboard with "disgust" reactions when presented with any sexual stimuli of the sex that they have (unconsciously) chosen to reject. the hint of sexual stimulation they get causes them to have a crisis and its akin to a fight or flight response.

open bisexuals are just people who are better able to ignore the cultural expectations, and be honest with themselves in allowing themselves to be more free and switch back and forth. this also explains why bisexuals have a hard time with monogamy, when they switch from one to another, they find their partner sexually uninteresting. they can still handle things like 3-ways and porn without reacting in disgust or complete disinterest because they can still recall the feelings of being turned on by the sex they are currently less focused on. but they would still have a sex they would prefer to pay more attention to rather than focus on both equally at the same time.

Well it is awful hard to glean good data off people willing to lie about their arousal patterns to save face or attract a certain type of desired mate.

So I would say in that context the best data we have is porn viewing habits for visualizing gay vs straight population at large and penile arousal for visualizing individual orientation.

If you have questions about dysphoria, my answer would be to consult a psychiatrist for some neuroleptics.
