I take MBTI with a grain of salt but INTP here and the forever alone archetype is real for me. It took me a long time to be ok with it and I am just now reaching a point where I embrace it and actually kind of like it. That's a correct assessment, I think this as well, but you are still likely to alternate between [nerd signs], especially during your "underdeveloped" stage. If you have a certain inclination for [your nerd sign], you as pretty much with everything else still have to "develop" it.

This just isn't true though. once you are an INTJ you will always always be an INTJ (excluding things like severe trauma or brain damage), even if your environment makes you appear like an ESFP on the outside.

Unless you're saying that you can appear like a different type on a different day, which is certainly true.

To be fair, I'm starting to see tests slightly alter the question to stuff like "Would you prefer going to a social gathering like a party or doing a solitary activity like reading a book or playing video games?" That's a better question because it places more emphasis on whether you prefer alone time rather than what your hobbies are.

Friendly reminder that the MBTI is not scientific and should not be taken seriously.

I've always just found MBTI types to be a fun thing not to be taken particularly seriously. The comparison to astrological signs seems pretty apt. On one level it's sort of like those "What x are you" quizes. I don't take a "what color are you" quiz, or one I actually took a couple weeks ago, "How white are you" and expect them to have any meaning. On the other hand, I'm proud to call myself a Slytherin. Being someone who has long been interested in the psychological study of personality, I've taken far better tests. I mean, the MBTI doesn't even have a scale to measure whether a test taker might be lying or answering randomly. It doesn't take into account the continual nature of the relationship between two opposing traits, instead choosing a dichotomous approach, while most people fall closer to the middle of the spectra than the ends. So for people who are saying that changing types is a big change, you may or may not be correct depending on where someone falls on the spectra. For some people who fall very close to the middle on any of the spectra they very well could change every time they take the test unless they purposely recall their previous answers and choose them again, and anytime anyone forces themselves to answer a certain way they would be doing away with any validity it did have.
