why do soccer/football players bother to work on their abs? or biceps? or any upper body for that reason

do you really need abdominal muscles to be good at that sport?

i assume in this case it's just a low bodyfat percentage and more for vanity/cosmetic reasons but still

soccer players have godlike abs because of the constant muscular twisting/rotational work (between lower and upper body parts) that this sport requires. on the field, they are constantly changing directions, running in zig-zag, and balancing/looking for balance with their arms
also shooting/kicking require a strong, rigid body (hence the strong abs), otherwise the shot is weak
I'd say that for soccer players, after their glutes, their abs are their strongest muscles
