whew I love living in Commiefornia for this one. I procrastinated forever about my legal documents but getting them changed probably took less than 24 hours of cumulative effort on my part

France. Laws were made slightly better last year but it also made new applications impossible for a year. Now, SRS isn't an absolute prerequisite anymore, judges can't mandate expensive and intrusive medical examinations and it can be done without being represented by a lawyer. But it's still done in court, hinges on a judge's arbitrary decision and takes half a year or more. And that's just for the court decision allowing the change. There's a ton of long and costly red tape to actually change ID documents and everything tied to those afterwards.
At this point, the only times I don't get treated as any other woman is when I have to show ID. I hope I'll have everything done by the end of the year.
