anon, trans women do not have a life expectancy of 30, because if trans women had a life expectancy of 30 transition as we know it would not exist -- it would be a mostly illegal and extremely regimented last case resort for people who would be dead in a matter of weeks without it, because if the life expectancy was 30 it would be worse than that of hiv-positive heroin addicts
same reason why we know the suicide attempt rate (let alone success rate) is nowhere near 40%, or the homicide rate not 1 in 12 (though kay brown has a lot to say about '1 in 12'...)
