At the very least, they paint a picture of this homogenised, bland stereotype of a personality that (unfortunately) the brainless masses of the LGBT "community" eat up and adopt, turning themselves into living punchlines cum petri dishes.

When you have parades that have a bunch of people dressed like a bdsm army, yeah it does look pretty bad. Kind of feeds into the whole Right wing agenda of us being 'deviant degenerates'.

Thankfully most aren't like these, but still there's no real drive behind them anymore, it's just people gathering for social browny points.
